In this guide, we’ll walk you through the recent changes made to our scoring system, designed to offer a more dynamic and engaging experience for players. We’ve introduced multipliers and performance metrics, addressed overkill damage, and refined how victory points are calculated to better reflect your in-game performance. Let’s dive in!

1. What are the key changes to the scoring system?

We’ve introduced multipliers to enhance the base campaign Victory Points (VP). Additionally, we’ve incorporated performance metrics like % of Remaining Wounds, Bodyguards Killed and Damage Dealt to contribute to your score. This means that performance in battle will contribute to VP even when a player loses a game.

Additionally, we’ve fixed the issues from previous iterations to ensure that ‘overkill’ damage no longer contributes to scores. We’ve also fixed some UI clashes, specifically in Battle Scars events.

2. What is the “overkill” damage, and how has it been addressed?

Overkill damage refers to dealing more damage to an enemy card than is necessary to defeat it. We’ve adjusted the scoring system so that overkill damage no longer contributes to your score. For example, if an enemy card has 10 Wounds remaining, and you attack for 20 damage, only 10 damage will count toward your score, preventing players from farming damage to inflate their scores.

3. Can you explain the role of multipliers in the scoring system?

Similar to those seen in Missions, these multipliers are applied to the base Campaign VP to incorporate additional scoring metrics. The base VP is multiplied by 100.

4. How does the “Remaining Wounds” modifier work in the scoring system?

The “Remaining Wounds” modifier boosts your VP based on the percentage of remaining wounds at the end of the game. The multiplier for % of remaining Wounds ranges from 1 to 1.35. So if a player loses no Wounds, the multiplier will be 1.35.

5. What if I have more wounds at the end of the match than at the beginning? Do I earn more points?

No, the maximum multiplier for Remaining Wounds (1.35) is achieved when you finish the battle with more than 70% of your starting Wounds. A higher percentage of starting Wounds will not contribute any additional VP.

6. Do token cards affect my score in the new scoring system?

No, cards eliminated and damage dealt to token cards, such as the Termagant or Vargard Obyron, do not contribute to your score.

7. Are there caps on how much you can score from each category?

No, there are no hard caps at the moment. But there is a limit on bodyguards you can kill since token cards (e.g. Termagant, Vargard Obyron) do not contribute.

8. Is the scoring system taking into account the level of enemy cards?

Not directly, but the difficulty level is factored in, which drives the card levels.

9. Does killing more bodyguards award more points?

Yes, killing more bodyguards gives more points, but token cards (e.g. Termagant, Vargard Obyron) do not contribute.

10. What happens if there are surviving bodyguards when you defeat the Warlord? Does this score less than defeating all the bodyguards?

No, defeating the Warlord and winning the match automatically counts as defeating all bodyguards.

11. Does the new scoring system affect all campaigns?

No, for now, this scoring system will not affect Clan Campaigns.

12. What cards count as a token?

Triarchal Menhir, Obelisk of Authority, Vargard Obyron, Sautekh Dynasty Aide and Protector, Specimen: LV-092-RA-Ψ, Hive Fleet Leviathan Termagant, and cards that are stolen by the Warlord Trazyn the Infinite.

13. How is damage calculated for shields?

Shields prevent damage so that damage is ignored. E.g. if you shoot for 100 damage and 60 is prevented, only 40 damage will contribute to your score.

14. How will this work with the Warlord’s special rules that increase wounds like Rakarth and Magos? Are the added wounds counted, just like for Medicae and Regen?

Any Wounds received over the base Wounds of the card do not count. E.g. If a card has 100 Wounds and receives an additional 20 Wounds, only 100 Wounds will count toward the Remaining Wounds total. However, any healed Wounds do contribute. So if the card took 50 damage and dropped to 50 Wounds but received 20 Wounds from a trait, then the Remaining Wounds would be 70.

15. How are endless cards counted in the “remaining wounds” field?

The wounds of the second life will not be counted unless the card dies and activates that second life.

E.g. Let’s take a card with 100 Wounds and then dies and returns with 40 Wounds. If the card doesn’t die, its remaining Wounds will be calculated out of 100. If the card dies, its remaining Wounds are calculated out of 140.

16. If a token deals damage and lowers my wounds, will that count?

Yes, taking damage from an enemy token card will contribute to your Remaining Wounds.

17. How do cards stolen by Trazyn count?

Friendly token cards can contribute to your damage dealt, but will not contribute to your Remaining Wounds.

18. How do the remaining wounds modifier interact with Greyfax? Will it consider the base wounds or the raised wounds?

Only the base Wounds of the card count, so the added Wounds from Greyfax do not contribute to the total Wounds of the card. The Wounds received will affect the Remaining Wounds, but as above, these will be capped by the base Wounds.
