The 18th trait to be added to the game, ready for the next ranked season, is one that has been requested and discussed a fair bit amongst the community: Barrage. The rule itself reads as follows:
“Whenever this card makes a Ranged attack it deals 10/20/30% of that damage to cards adjacent to the target.”
So we have our first ‘area of effect’ trait, and also our first that applies to adjacent cards rather than target cards or all cards, making positioning of these cards important to get the maximum benefit.
A few other key things to mention is that:
- It will be blocked by shields so this can be a very effective strategy for stripping shields indirectly or when facing a shield wall.
- When targeting taunt or target acquired cards it will still splash out to adjacent cards so again can be used to deal some extra damage to cards you would not normally be able to target that round.
- Barrage damage is a percentage of the damage dealt so taunt damage reductions, as well as other debuff effects, will affect the splash damage total (and similarly with buff effects).
With these interactions it should prove a more complex and tactical addition than it may appear on the surface and should add some good new builds and combos into the game.

I think this will weaken the kastelan robot as it lacks fire power in my opinion. And in the actual game, these robots are beasts the armies are built around.
How has this trait not been given to the new Leman Russ battle tank and other larger units which actually have large weapons which would have an area of effect? The Imperial Valkyrie, Tyranid Exocrine, Chaos Forgefiend and Corprax the Havoc marine spring to mind. Maybe they’d become too overpowered, but it would be realistic.

A positive, but basic, addition. Unfortunately, it’ll do little to effect the games fundamental design flaws tied to the card progession vs card pool growth vs gatcha gambling mechanics as they collide in a (industry) mess. For me, it’s a significant disincentive to spend any more money as my chances of getting cards I need/want/work in the OP decks, in the numbers I need them, actually declines.
The squigbuggy change is a bad one, it should stay with it’s current trait, or else you’re robbing the ork players of a key building card.
The servants of the emperor shouldn’t be swapping out so many shielded cards for this, maybe trading off the Castellan robot for the Leman Russ tank would make more sense. Too much change to one deck.

I have to say this is one of the best games from the warhammer universe in years! They only thing I think should be addressed is some of the pictures on the cards imply that the card will have that ability, so some cards have ranged weapons in the picture but the card can’t attack in that way. Also some of the stats need to be looked at the blood angles terminator having the same melee attack stat as the scout is odd. Also Ibram Gaunt needs to be an warlord for Servant of the emperor! Keep up the good work, loving the game!
