Greetings, citizens,
Today, we’re sharing some upcoming changes to the Card Tier system—the mechanic that controls when certain cards become available as players level up.
Why We’re Making Changes
The original purpose of the Card Tier system was twofold:
- To prevent new and mid-level players from feeling overwhelmed by the full card pool.
- To give players a better sense of progression by unlocking cards gradually.
However, as the game has grown and new cards have been added, the logic behind tier groupings has become unclear. In many cases, related cards or themes are scattered across multiple unlock levels, which can make the experience feel disjointed.
What’s Changing
We’re restructuring card unlocks to be tied more clearly to in-game factions and subfactions. This change aims to:
- Make progression feel more cohesive and meaningful.
- Ensure that related cards are unlocked together.
- Provide an at-a-glance understanding of what players are working toward.
- Create a natural home for future releases
New Card Unlock Progression
Here’s the new breakdown of when each faction becomes available:
Level | Sub-faction |
1 | Ultramarines, Chaos Space Marines, Astra Militarum, Tyranids, Aeldari |
5 | Space Wolves |
7 | Khorne |
9 | Orks |
11 | Adepta Sororitas |
13 | Nurgle |
15 | Blood Angels |
17 | Necrons |
19 | T’au Empire |
21 | Tzeentch |
23 | Adeptus Mechanicus |
25 | Drukhari |
27 | Dark Angels |
29 | Agents of the Imperium, Deathwatch, Grey Knights |
31 | Black Templars |
32 | Genestealer Cults |
35 | Leagues of Votann |
37 | Adeptus Custodes |
39 | Slaanesh |
41 | All other Space Marine Chapters |
43 | Chaos Knights & Imperial Knights |
We’ve also sped up the rate of unlocks, with the maximum unlock level now at 43 (down from 60). This ensures that all factions are accessible within a few months of regular play, without overwhelming new players right away.
What This Means for Existing Players
- If you’re below Level 43, you’ll retain access to any cards you’ve already unlocked. Once a card is in your collection, it’s yours, regardless of tier changes.
- If you’re above Level 43, nothing changes—you already have full access.
Final Thoughts
This rework is designed to make the game more intuitive and rewarding for new players while preserving the experience for veterans. We believe this is a step toward a more structured and enjoyable collection journey for everyone.
As always, we look forward to hearing your feedback.
I Like the thougt about some Changes 👌
Please add the emperors children to the general card pool. I am begging you!
The new changes to the Ranked Mode ladder are terrible in my opinion. If you want to ensure lower level players get rewarded better at the end of a campaign then consider forming different leagues (lvl 1-20 League 3 / lvl 21-41 League 2 / lvl 42-60 League 1 / lvl 60+ Premier League). Each league has a winner and tiered reward system. Give the lower leagues great rewards.
If you could drop Magnus and Izkhandar all my money would be for you.
So if there is a LoV campaign (semi regular) and I am below rank 35 I will not be able to participate as I will not have unlocked any of the WL’s before then? But there will be campaign starters I can purchase when those campaigns are active? Or will newer players have access to a WL/basic cards to even attempt?
Sounds pretty sensible to me! I love the idea of not getting leagues of Votann cards. Maybe make that an option for all levels.
Seriously though, I do think the re-structure makes perfect sense for new players.
