The first of the Traitor Primarchs has arrived in Combat Cards! And who better to take the honour than the Phoenician himself?
True to his nature—and that of the Emperor’s Children—Fulgrim introduces a new, high-risk, high-reward playstyle to the Chaos faction. His strategy revolves around delivering a swift and devastating opening blow, aiming to end the fight before it even begins.
He now holds the potential to unleash the highest damage spikes of any Warlord in the game. However, if players fail to capitalize on his ability, its effects will quickly wear off, leaving Fulgrim vulnerable. Without further ado, let’s take a look at his unique rule:
Seekers of Perfection
“A friendly card’s first attack deals +50% damage. Additionally, attacks against enemies at (or above) their base Wounds deal +50% damage. This can stack, for a maximum of +100% additional damage.”

This means that the very first attack of the game is likely to be the most devastating—before your cards have attacked and while enemies are still at full health.
Eliminating an opponent will bring a fresh target onto the field, keeping the attack boost rolling. This can lead to a devastating chain of high-damage strikes. However, if the first attack fails to secure a kill, the deck’s momentum can quickly slow down. Managing both your own card cycling and your opponent’s board state will be key to achieving swift and decisive victories.
Crucially, the attack boost applies to all attack types, allowing players to build their deck freely without being locked into a single strategy. The bonus also stacks with other damage multipliers, making cards with Scout and Target Acquired particularly powerful—traits that Slaanesh forces have in abundance.
Final Thoughts
Overall, Fulgrim is a hard-hitting Warlord who brings a fresh to the aggressive playstyle of the Chaos faction. Facing him will require setting up strong defensive roadblocks to disrupt his momentum—because if he’s allowed to dictate the pace of battle, it could be over before it even begins.
