The Astra Militarum, the last remaining sub-faction for the Servants of the Emperor without a Supreme Commander, will soon see the arrival of Lord Solar Leontus. With the release of their new Codex, Lord Solar Leontus assumes his rightful place in Combat Cards as the Commander-in-Chief of the Astra Militarum.

This legendary figure is a perfect addition, embodying leadership and tactical brilliance, and bringing an exciting new dimension to the game.

The Astra Militarum boasts a vast array of weapons and soldiers, requiring the Lord Solar to maximize the potential of every tool at his disposal. This strategic approach is mirrored in his tabletop abilities, where he can issue additional orders each turn.

Arcadian Leontus wields entire armies of the Astra Militarum against apocalyptic invasions and sector-wide insurgencies. A war scholar and master tactician, the Lord Commander Solar bestrides the battlefield on his cybernetic stallion, Konstantin, levelling his blade at the foe as he bellows his orders.

Warlord Rule: The Lord Solar

“At the start of your turn, the card with the highest melee attack gains +40% melee, and the card with the highest ranged attack gains +40% ranged until your next turn. If a single card holds both the highest melee and ranged attacks, it benefits from both buffs.”

This rule amplifies your most powerful offensive cards, further increasing their effectiveness each turn. It provides a dynamic and tactical edge, encouraging diverse deck-building strategies:

1. Balanced Melee/Ranged Deck: A versatile option, allowing you to pivot between attack types depending on the situation.

2. Key Piece Deck: Focus on a few heavy hitters capable of stacking both buffs, supported by weaker utility cards.

3. Mono Deck with Defensive Splash: For instance, a melee-focused deck supplemented with high-impact Barrage cards for counterattacks.

While the rule offers significant flexibility, only one attack type can be used per turn. This means you can guarantee the damage bonus from one buff but must strategically plan to leverage counterattacks for the other.

Despite its simplicity, “The Lord Solar” rule introduces engaging tactical possibilities, much like the Astra Militarum itself. Harness the full might of humanity against the enemies of the Imperium, confident that the Emperor is with you!
