Greetings, citizens,
We’re excited to unveil a meaningful update to Apocalypse mode, transforming it into a consistent, rewarding feature of the game with a well-defined purpose.
Much like Ranked, Apocalypse will now have its own Seasons, but with some key differences that set it apart:
Faster-Paced Weekly Seasons
Unlike Ranked’s monthly cycle, Apocalypse Seasons will follow a weekly format, offering a much faster-paced experience. This shorter duration bridges the gap between the longer-term Ranked Seasons and the bite-sized Campaigns, providing players with another dynamic way to engage with the game.
Quicker Reward Loops for All Factions
One significant advantage of this update is the addition of quicker reward cycles, making it easier for players to earn rewards while playing as any faction. While Campaigns offer quick rewards, they often restrict players to specific factions. Apocalypse eliminates this barrier, enabling you to enjoy consistent payouts with your favourite decks.
Expanded Faction Scoring
Another key difference is in scoring. Apocalypse Seasons will count your Top 6 factions, compared to the Top 4 factions in Ranked. This change allows for greater deck variety and keeps gameplay fresh within the shorter season window.
Additionally, max rewards in Apocalypse Seasons require only 2,000 trophies per week, compared to Ranked’s *9,000 trophies over four weeks. Combined with the broader faction scoring, this means a quicker, more accessible climb to the top rewards.
Simple and Flexible Scoring Resets
At the start of each Apocalypse Season, all faction scores will reset to 0. This simplifies the system compared to Ranked’s carry-over scoring and gives you the freedom to experiment with different factions week to week without penalty.
With weekly resets and a shorter timeframe, flexibility and variety are top priorities, ensuring every player can keep the experience enjoyable and engaging.
A More Relaxed Competitive Environment
Unlike Ranked, Apocalypse Seasons will not feature a Terra equivalent, leaderboards, or top-player competition. This removes the pressure to compare your performance against others, allowing for a more personal and relaxed progression experience.
By focusing on self-paced play, this mode minimizes the time investment needed to earn rewards while still maintaining its appeal. Whether you’re a casual or dedicated player, Apocalypse fits seamlessly into your schedule.
Streamlined Progression and Rewards
Each Apocalypse Season is divided into five Arenas, with each containing one Sector Milestone. Reaching a milestone unlocks an immediate reward, while additional rewards are granted at the end of the season based on the highest Arena achieved.
To enhance matchmaking, Arena thresholds will increase progressively. Early Arenas are smaller, allowing experienced players to quickly progress to higher levels, while newer or casual players can enjoy a more leisurely climb. This structure reduces the initial congestion often seen in Ranked Seasons, making for smoother matchmaking from the start.
A New Way to Play
We’re mindful of balancing new game modes with player time demands. Apocalypse Seasons aims to fill the gap for those seeking a regular yet low-pressure way to engage with the game. With weekly resets, inclusive faction scoring, and a focus on personal progression, Apocalypse offers something for every player.
We can’t wait for you to dive into the updated Apocalypse mode. Whether you’re chasing rewards or simply exploring new strategies, this mode is designed to keep your gameplay fresh and rewarding!
Love the idea if keeping Apocalypse mode fun and less of a time investment
I honestly main apocalypse mode anyways so this is cool, I don’t play ranked as much since card levels matter a lot more and the decks are more restrictive which makes it’s more like a efficiency race to get the most valuable cards you can which leaves out some of the more fun cards so I’m very happy with a casual mode.
I agree with X in that ranked mode is more challenging and not as fun, although I still enjoy it for what it is.
I think that this update will be good for players as, speaking for most I’m sure, Apocalypse mode was how I would grind for the Season Pass. So now we have twice the payout and without added pressure!
Thank you, team.
Seasons are too short or the new season reset is too harsh – I enjoy this but between campaigns and grinding to make sure I stay above 8000pt for the season (again coz of overly harsh, unfun score reset grinding) – who has time to redo the slog every week?
Please consider fortnightly and/or less resets. Hitting terra should also be reset much higher than the 5000 points currently. It’s not fun, but if you take a month of, it’s even less fun next time.
