It’s that time again! First of all I know that we have been promising some Warlord and Trait changes for a while now. I’m pleased to say the first pass of these are coming out now, with some value adjustments being made to 5 Warlords. The next part of this will be looking at some of the Warlords with fixed values, and also a change to the Shield trait, which will be coming out next pass.
The reason we are looking into fixed value Warlords is that these can be among the hardest to balance, with small changes having a wildly different effect on different ends of the spectrum. We have done some analysis and some of these we will be looking to covert over to a % based rule to try and achieve a better balance across all levels of player. That does mean that these WLs, while not changing practically in their rules, will potentially have a fairly different power level and so these WLs are coming a bit later, and may still need a bit of adjustment after their update.
But with these changes coming out later, I’ll talk in more detail about them then, so lets look at the changes we have upcoming for this end of Season!
Warlord Rule Changes:
Eldrad Ulthran – Spirit Link
For every psychic attack made by an Aeldari card each turn, increase subsequent psychic attacks by 25->30%. This rule can be triggered by a card only once per turn.
Honoured Aun’va – Paradox of Duality
When one of your T’au cards is atacked it gains 40->50% of the damage to the attack stat of that type.
Commisar Yarrick – Iron Will
When one of your Servants of the Emperor cards is destroyed, one of your cards Readies at 200->225%.
Brother-Lieutenant Tolmeron – Tactical Precision
When you deploy a Space Marine card, your currently deployed cards gain +20->25% ranged attack.
Logan Grimnar – Savage Fury
When an opponent is destroyed by a melee attack, 125->150% of any excess damages is passed onto and adjacent card.

No point in changing warlords because nobody plays with them – change the reason that nobody plays with them!
It’s the matchmaking that’s needing changed. It’s so heavily biased towards shields and damage reduction now that there’s simply no point in playing the warlords competitively now. You pick Aun-va – AI picks psyker deck, you pick Tolmeron – AI picks Badrukk, if you progress up the ranks the worse it gets, get high enough and all you face is acheran and a deck of level 4 shields.
AI needs attention not the cards.
