The new season will start on Monday, June 8th.
From the passionate madness that is Ork engineering, we head to the cold, methodical reverence that the Mechanicum holds for technology.
After the initiative changes we introduced with Wazdakka, there’s obviously a bit more time needed to have a full assessment of the impact, but all signs point to balance being unaffected, or positive in bringing a bit more diversity in picks.
Notably, there has not been a Community Balance this Season, due to the busy roster with Skulls, and a few instances of leave, it made sense to put a pause on it for this season, but rest assured, it will be back next time around.
Without the Community pick its back to our usual rotation this season of three Warlords and this season’s subfaction getting a bodyguard tuneup.
Warlord Changes:
Ûthar the Destined
High Kâhl of the Greater Thurian League
Position: 69th | Playrate: 63rd
Cost Change: -4; Cost (42 -> 38)
Obviously, with a notably smaller roster and as a new faction, Votann are going to struggle a bit on the lower end. Until some more cards are able to be introduced, there’s a limited amount to do on the balance side without a massive overturning to over compensate. That said, Uthar sits in BGH range while not being a game winning threat like other larger Warlords, so we’re reducing his points.
Canis Rex
Sir Hekhtur the Chainbreaker
Position: 69th | Playrate: 63rd
Cost Change: -4; Cost (42 -> 38)
Well, here we are. After an impressive outing last season for Canis Rex, and the resulting buff to Hatred’s Embrace, Canis Rex has see-sawed down to the bottom again. We’ll give a points reduction again to match the two of them, but for now, I think that’s where we’ll leave the two Knight warlords.
Zimot Hayha
Genestealer Cults Jackal Alphus
Position: 63rd | Playrate: 22nd
Stat Change: +25 Wounds, +8 Range
With the Tyranids leaning more towards Melee, and more so as time has gone on, Zimot has been the answer for Ranged, and while holding up that role remarkably well, they’ve done so by being the only option. That’s not to say they aren’t powerful, hence the rule power level remaining the same, but a tune-up in stats should help both close out the 1 turn kill with Deadshot, or allow one more round of attacks more consistently if deployed before having the chance to attack.
With that, let’s now have a look at this Season’s Bodyguard changes for the Servant of the Emperor:
