The welfiest, snazziest and baddest of the Bad Moons, Nazdreg, has arrived in Combat Cards. As the greatest Warlord of this era, second only to Ghazghkull, Nazdreg is a potent Warlord, and it’s only fitting as a Bad Moon that all his boyz are kitted out with the best gear. And where do you get most of the best gear? From your enemies, and then Orkifying it a bit.
Nazdreg takes the existing stat steal mechanic and elevates it to a new level, with the loot being spread out amongst the whole Waaagh!, with the greatest share going to Nazdreg himself. Let’s have a look at his full rule!
Warlord Rule
Only Da Best Loot
“Whenever a friendly card destroys an enemy card, it gains 50% of the destroyed card’s base attack stats as “Loot”. When a friendly card is destroyed, 100% of its Loot bonus is split evenly among all remaining friendly cards, including those in your deck. Nazdreg counts as 2 cards when dividing loot. Friendly cards cannot gain new attack types from this effect.”
Mastering the Rule
So we have the familiar destroy a card, and take a portion of its attack stats from it, but rather than being permanently added to the card, it takes the form of a status effect bonus. When a friendly card is destroyed, if they had any loot on them, that loot is then split out among the rest of your cards, with Nazdreg getting a double share.
For example if a card with a loot bonus of +50 Melee was destroyed and you had 4 cards left, then each bodyguard would get +10 Melee worth of loot, and Nazdreg would get +20.
Unlike Huron, the other looting Warlord, cards cannot gain stats they don’t have. After all, what use is a weirdboy zappy stick to your average boy. So starting at deck building, taking this into consideration is important, with cards having at least two attack stats being the best choice to maximise your loot.
Importantly the loot is split up regardless of whether a card can benefit from it or not. In the example above, if one of the 3 bodyguards had no Melee attack, the +10 Melee boost would be lost, rather than further split among your cards.
There are a number of different approaches with building Nazdreg, each being quite different. Go down the Huron route, and try and have a few key cards that personally amass the loot, and don’t share it out, keeping the maximum buff for themselves. Or you could build one all around focusing all the loot on Nazdreg and have a large number of high damage, low wounds cards, that quickly destroy cards and are destroyed in turn and siphon every scrap of loot directly into Nazdreg making him a devastating killing machine. And of course there are many versions in between.
A well constructed deck can lead every scrap of loot being preserved, but of course any raid is only as good as your target, and there may be some match ups that just don’t have the loot you’re looking for, or allow you to change strategy midway through.
So whatta yer waitin’ for? Git out dere an’ get some proppa loot!
