The new season will start on Monday, March 16th.

From Corsair Season where the two branches of the Aeldari become one, we move to Twin Lance Season, where two heroes of the Greater Good fight together as a single overwhelming force.

As well as the usual season updates we have the results from our first Community Balance poll!

The Community has spoken and this time the vote has been to nerf Supreme Commander Draigo. With 48.1% of the vote (a total of 484 votes) and clear lead over second place (buff Gloguthrox with 400 votes), it was a clear decision and will be effective as of next season as can be seen below.

We’ll also be aiming to include some of the community top requests for balance into the choice for this next coming round, making sure you are able to influence both the outcome and the options to some degree.

With that lets get stuck into the changes!

Warlord Changes:

[Community Pick]

Lord Kaldor Draigo

Supreme Grand Master of the Grey Knights

Position: 2nd | Winrate: 89.1% | Playrate: 0.5% (57th)

Untouchable Purity: Whenever you play a friendly card, it makes an attack with its highest attack type at 75%. Additionally friendly cards cannot take more than [60% -> 75%] of their base wounds as damage from a single attack.

The win/play rate above was from the previous season and the stats on which the community voted. This season both of those have slid a bit, perhaps with players seeing the writing on the wall for him after the community vote.

That said he is still very strong and we’re committed to the vote, so where 5 Seasons ago we reduced his damage output, this time we’re reducing his damage resistance. Now when a card would be one shot its only left with 25% of its wounds remaining, and early damage to a card can much more easily set it up to be taken down on the next turn. Traits like Barrage and Psionic Blast are in a much better position to have a meaningful chance of doing enough damage to allow the card to be taken down.

Overall this should make him a lot less oppressive and more manageable to face as an opponent, but will still be powerful in the players hands.

Zephyrblade

Craftworld Saim-Hann Autarch

Position: 73rd | Winrate: 73.5% | Playrate: 1.1% (37th)

+5 Ranged, +5 Melee

Battle Focus: When any card is destroyed, all your cards (including those in your deck) gain [+3 -> +6] Ranged attack.

While Zephyrblade still has a good playrate, coming in right in the middle at 37th, his win-rate for the first time is nearly at the bottom, and for an original Warlord that’s very impressive. So perhaps long overdue his attack bonus per kill is doubling to +6 as well as getting some increases to their attack stats. This now much more closely aligns with other older stat increase Warlords like Ghosar who have received buffs in recent times.

Trajann Valoris

Captain-General of the Adeptus Custodes

Position: 69th | Winrate: 73.7% | Playrate: 0.4% (59th)

Guardians of the Golden Throne: If a friendly card has 50% or more base Wounds remaining, boost its attack stats by 40%. If it has less than 50% base Wounds remaining, reducing incoming damage by [-30 -> 50%].

Trajann has struggled to really find his spot in Ranked, and while his damage output is impressive, his damage reduction may well be too little too late. Once a card is that damaged, the damage reduction isn’t going to save it. With this increase there is a much more realistic chance that the damage reduction can save cards rather than just getting completely ignored.

Specimen: LV-655-BS-Φ

Hive Fleet Leviathan Tervigon

Position: 64th | Winrate: 77.2% | Playrate: 0.4% (57th)

-2 Cost, +5 Ranged, +5 Psychic, +5 Melee

Token Termagant: +10 Wounds, +7 Ranged

Another older Warlord up for a buff as well this season! As well as getting a bit cheaper and a bit deadlier the main buff realistically here is to the Termagants. While there isn’t a whole lot of flexibility with what can be done with the Tervigons rule, making the extra tokens more effective with a significant ranged increase, paired with its precision shot, should make them much better at winning the all out grind battles with a bit more offense.

Now with the Warlords covered let’s move onto this Season’s T’au bodyguard changes:

Dahyak Grekh – Kroot Tracker

+13 Range, -7 Melee

Shas’ui D’tano – Vior’la Sept Breacher
