Greetings Citizen,

We’re pleased to announce our latest Supreme Commander, hailing from the Grey Knights: Kaldor Draigo. As a Warlord, he brings a strong opening alpha striker, along with a potent defensive ability.

First, let’s have a look at his all-round stats:

At 85pts, he’s a very reasonably costed Supreme Commander, leaving more room than most for the expensive Space Marine psykers. On top of that, he has very formidable all-around attacks, giving him one of the highest combined attack totals of any Warlord, particularly when factoring his Inspiring Presence. While he doesn’t have any defensive traits, his Warlord rule handles a big part of that, and his rule combined with Scout, means he can lay down a blistering amount of damage on the turn he enters the field.

With that, there’s been enough reference to his rule, so let’s take a look at Untouchable Purity in full:

“Whenever you play a friendly card, it makes an attack with its highest attack type at 100%. Additionally, friendly cards cannot take more than 60% of their base wounds as damage from a single attack.”

The first part means that all cards get a free on-deploy attack trait in their highest attack type. Working just like Warp Surge, Furious Charge or Precision Shot, each card makes a free attack at full power once deployment is resolved. Since this isn’t tied to any one attack type, only the card’s highest value attack, one build could be all the best on deploy attack cards mixed together to double tap on entry.

The second part of the rule protects from one-hit KOs, while still vulnerable to Target Acquired and Deadshot, your cards cannot be wiped out in a single attack. In addition, a well-timed Medicae or cards with Regen get back above that threshold to trigger it multiple times. While not a high-impact rule in all matchups, it will be the deciding factor in aggressive matchups.

Overall, Draigo brings a new and interesting balance ability to the game, and one which is incredibly flexible when it comes to deck building.
